The Beach Loves Me And I Love The Beach

I drew this up for a friend for her birthday last year and in the true spirit of PROcrastiNATION I'm posting it now instead of starting a new project that I've been wanting to start for a long time. lol. I'm impossible, (but incredibly reliable and ON IT when it comes to working for others, so that's good at least. ;P)

For the tree hugger in all of us...

...first sketch of 2016! Well, first colour sketch, anyway. (The original pencil drawing was done last year...)

And since we're talking FIRST colour sketch, I may as well show you the LAST colour job I did of 2015, which is this:

This was a web banner for a bike ride. I'm quite proud of it, as I think it looks amazing. The ride was awesome, by the way. (And yes, it was beyond freezing.)

12 weeks of brrr brrr squeak squeak

winter is coooomm--here. thank your god, our god, this god, that god we live in a land less rigid and less frigid than those of the northern most north or the southern most south. into the darkness let's go. let's peddle to and fro and hurried and fast for our fingers are losing feeling and our breath is coming rasp and shuffle shuffle hobble hobble oh this winter I love thee not but I forgive you for the pain you've brought if only and if REALLY you remind me of the good day yet to come when

spring is brought back on. :D I mean, yeah. the night sky is still beautiful no matter what time of year.

I went to a Maker Faire and saw/tried a felting demo. Then I joined stitch and bitch at work and this co-worker gave me some felting supplies. I made this.  This is Bruno. I love Bruno. Bruno is about 9 cm tall in real life, but a giant in my mind.

Dancing on ice must be somewhat better than dancing on eggshells.

It's Olympic time and what I've learned so far is it's desirable to watch other people do exercise whilst sitting on your couch and dreaming of that new car you can't wait to own. I've also learned women will never stop being compared to men; despite the tables not being turned in our favour. I'm not talking genetics, I'm talking socialization and from the get go being told we'll never be as good, nor should we try. I've also learned Canada is better at being open about and celebrating other countries and their successes than our American broadcasting brethren.  (Nothing new here, but I suppose it's a reminder.) I've ALSO learned that after just over a week of watching a whole heck of a lot of t.v., (a record for me since childhood,) I sure do value my drawing time/do some sort of creative project time and am almost ready for this athletic fiesta to be over. That being said, it's obvious figure skating is still rigged.

(On a side note--I very much want to try luge.)

Princess Prancers Pass The Pigskin! my coworkers started this NFL fantasy football league, and because I love sports soooooo much (read severe sarcasm here) I joined it. My team, which is going to win the league, needed a logo to keep them inspired. I made them this. Introducing the Princess Prancers! The most high tooting, hoofy hootin' rock-o bronco team around! YEEEEEEEEHAAAAAWWWWW! Now pass that pigskin, or don't cuz we're gonna take it and break it! I mean, uh, touch it down or something.

Inspired, Not Always Desired

a one hour sketch cuz I've missed working in colour and it's been a while since I've had time to myself. to draw. breathe in. breath out. withdraw.

Restoring My Faith In Canada... moment at a time.

Sitting out on my patio, I was fortunate enough to hear a group of drunk young men come stumbling out of a cab in front of my building. They stopped outside to smoke a j. The convo started with mention of all the Jesus flyers that get left on the bench out front. It lead to a discussion on religion; many having grown up but out of religion; to casual name dropping of the women they met or hung out with that night at the bar whom they thought were hot; to women they respected and admired (proud mentions of Dr. Mom and another nurse sister); then veered to seeing their parent's relationships from an adult perspective; and how trivial life can be when faced with people who really make a difference out there. Then they went inside and I smiled having been privy to a private boy conversation and happily convinced that what Jesus would do is a spark a j and spread some positive vibes after a good long night of respectful merry making.

I sketched this up on newsprint with charcoal in their honour. I couldn't see anyone; as there was a big hedge dividing us so this is what I came up with based on their voices. Then I took a picture of the sketch with my new Phone From The Future and uploaded it to my computer. I love my new Phone From The Future. It's amazing.
